Zelda Breath of the Wild 2D, Nintendo blocca il progetto

Come previsto, Nintendo ha bloccato lo sviluppo del progetto amatoriale volto a trasformare Zelda Breath of the Wild in una versione a 8-bit, in perfetto stile NES.

Anche questo fantastico lavoro del fan e sviluppatore Winter Drake è stato falciato dai legali della Grande N con una notifica di violazione del Digital Millennium Copyright Act e si aggiunge così alla lunga lista di contenuti gratuiti creati dagli ammiratori di Nintendo ma finiti forzatamente nell’oblio.

La stessa sorte è toccata a Pokémon Uranium, Project AM2R – il remake di Metroid 2 – e molti altri titoli. Breath of the NES è solo l’ultimo di questi progetti che non vedrà mai la luce.

Fortunatamente non tutto è perduto, visto che lo sviluppatore riciclerà quanto già sviluppato per un nuovo gioco originale, più grande e migliore. Anzi, la scelta di utilizzare materiale protetto da copyright è stata una “decisione pianificata”.

Winter Drake sapeva che il proprio progetto avrebbe attirato l’attenzione di Nintendo ma, come da lui stesso dichiarato, “non è molto divertente sviluppare qualcosa in silenzio senza ottenere commenti e pubblicità”.
